Why it exists
The setup works: a vault of plain-text notes, a fast editor, an AI that reads your week and helps you close it. But today it's held together by conventions, prompt files, and folder discipline that only its author understands. Powerful, and completely non-transferable.
Thock ships that opinion as a product. The folder structure, the rituals, the layouts, and the guardrails are visible, editable features instead of tribal knowledge.
Plain Markdown in a normal folder. No database, no lock-in. If Thock disappeared tomorrow, your vault opens in any editor.
The AI adds its synthesis under headings like # Daily Closure. What you wrote stays exactly as you wrote it.
You connect your own LLM with your own key: Claude, a local model, whatever you trust. Thock doesn't resell intelligence.
It computes exactly what to do next, but it cannot and will not do the important things for you. Money moves when you move it.
Every meaningful change is checkpointed in the background. Restore any version of any note, with no source-control vocabulary anywhere.
Rituals, templates and layouts are files in your vault. Rewrite them yourself, or ask your agent to.
Routines
A Routine is one life-domain, packaged: its folders, templates, quick links and rituals. Enable the ones you want; ignore the rest. Each is defined by a readable file in your vault, so your own agent can author a new one from scratch.
Today, Yesterday, This Week, Last Week. One keystroke each, filenames resolved for you. Wrap rituals read the day's tasks and commits and append an honest closure. A week review gathers it all every Friday.

A plain backlog.md with Soon, Someday, and a dated Completed history. When you
wrap a day, unfinished tasks are offered a place there; you confirm all, none, or some. Checking
one off records it in today's note.

The right rail follows what you're reading. On a daily note it renders your task list as time blocks, calendar-style. Connect Google Calendar and the day's events appear inside the note itself, as ordinary checklist lines you can edit.

A folder anything can drop a note into: a link shared from your phone, an email you label, a file dragged in. A triage ritual proposes a destination for each item and files only what you confirm. Capture is dumb and instant; deciding happens where you think.

Every ritual is an inspectable Markdown file with a plain-language description and declared scopes: what it reads, what it writes, and whether it appends or edits. Trust comes from being able to open the thing and read it.

The editor
Thock inherits its editing core from Zed: native, instant, and happy in a ten-thousand-file folder. The code-editor chrome is gone: no diagnostics, no debugger, no source-control pane. What's left is a writing instrument.
Markdown that reads like a page. While your cursor is elsewhere, heading markers and link syntax fold away, checkboxes draw as checkboxes, and wikilinks are visibly links. The line you're editing always shows its exact source. The file on disk never changes.
Keyboard, everywhere. Every panel is fully operable without the mouse: arrows or vim motions, your choice. Every action has a name and a binding. This page works the same way: press ?.
Your vault
A Thock vault is a normal folder of Markdown, which means the one you already have probably is
one. No import, no conversion, no migration. [[wikilinks]] resolve, your folder
structure is respected, and everything Thock adds is a readable file sitting beside your notes.
Open the same folder in your current tools whenever you like. Nothing breaks, because nothing changed shape.
Who it's for
